Description
Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, which takes its name from the red color of its stalk, is a native varietal originating from Friuli Venezia Giulia where, until the arrival of Cabernet and Merlot, it was the most widespread grape variety. To truly appreciate this indigenous variety, you have to sample this example from Italo Cescon, it embodies the style of wine that should be produced from this grape. Poised, soft but with a firm structure, intensely flavoured with spice and fruit in equal measure on the palate before an amazingly complex finish of dark, bitter chocolate dusted with freshly cracked black pepper. Absolutely sublime and a wine every Italian lover should try at least once.
