This minimum 3-year-old rum was developed to be perfect for mixed drinks, where a nice translucency is important for the look of the serve, such a daiquiri or mojito. The observant will notice it displays a hint of pale gold and this is evidence of three years of tropical maturation. Rums aged in the Caribbean mature typically three times faster than spirits in colder locations such as Scotland. During the maturation process, the rum interacts with the oak barrel, softening and picking up additional flavour as well as gaining some colour. The Foursquare team apply sufficient filtration to the rum to remove the majority of the colour, whilst minimising the impact on flavour loss.
