Graves is an important sub-region of the Bordeaux wine region. Graves is situated on the left bank … Graves AOC is also the name of one Appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) which covers most, but not all of the Graves sub-region. The name is derived from ‘gravel’ and the best soils are gravel-rich, mixed with sand and occasionally clay. This is the region which first established Bordeaux’s reputation.
Xavier and Caroline Perromat took over Château Calvimont in 2012, along with Château de Cérons. The couple inherited Xavier’s parents’ estate and began to put their own stamp on the vines and wines.
