A fortunate land under the sun
The heart of the Rioja Alavesa: proud of its winemaking tradition, the village of Elciego is one of the most famous and acknowledged villages of the Rioja Alavesa region. Behind the solid walls of its mansions, centuries of wine production wisdom have highlighted a vocation. Located near the river Ebro, Elciego has a distinctive contour, where the old part of the town lies in the shadow of the great church of San Andrés. It was here in the second half of the nineteenth century, that wine making commenced using the same process as is carried out today throughout the region.
The gentle slopes, made of a thousand terraces and small ravines, embrace a world dedicated to the vine with devotion. Century after century, generations of farmers have carefully worked these places. Its delivery and its illusion allow to explain the image of harmony that today is possible to contemplate in the surroundings of Elciego.
