Here in Yorkshire we are proud to be from god’s own country so what better day to celebrate the official Liquid Indulgence launch of Brontë Yorkshire Gin than on Yorkshire day?

Yes, it’s not just any gin. It’s Yorkshire Gin made with the finest botanicals in Haworth, the home of the famous Brontë sisters, (I’ll leave it there as I’m starting to sound like an M&S advert!)

Brontë Gin was created by Samantha Long, a true Yorkshire lass who has lived in Brontë country for over 30 years. Her inspiration for the gin came from the rich history and rocky landscapes of her home county. Sam’s idea was to simply create a traditional gin that reflected the good ole days when “gin was gin”. So, she teamed up with one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious distilleries and voila…

Brontë Yorkshire Lass Gin was born!

The first thing that I notice about the Brontë Gin is the fresh, citrus aroma which immerses my nose when I take a quick sniff. The juniper is also dominant on the nose which harmonises well with the lemon and orange peel citrus notes. The dominance of juniper also rings true that this is a gin that has truly stuck to the traditional style of gin.

I would first recommend to try the Yorkshire Gin neat. From practice, if you taste a gin neat and enjoy the experience then it’s a damn good gin! This theory most definitely applies to Brontë Yorkshire Lass Gin. The texture is super smooth with zero harshness and has the perfect balance of sour from the lemon and orange peel vs sweet from the liquorice and cassia bark.

(Quick mid-blog fact for you, Cassia bark is also commonly known as Chinese Cinnamon.)

From here it’s pretty evident that the Brontë gin botanicals are only going to amplified by the addition of Fever Tree tonic and a garnish. The Yorkshire Lass herself recommends serving with a wedge of frozen pink grapefruit. I’ve done some experimenting of my own and found that a raspberry/strawberry skewer also pairs well and is in keeping with the Yorkshire theme.
