Our wine and spirit events are a great alternative to the usual Friday night out and they’re also a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people who enjoy the good stuff. At our most recent wine tasting we reached out to one of our guests, Claire Davies, asking her to share her thoughts and tell the world what to expect at a Liquid Indulgence tasting.
See her verdict below…
“When Alan and Rebekah invited me to write a review of a recent wine tasting event I wasn’t entirely sure what to say. As a food writer I’m used to talking about the flavour, provenance and attention to detail that so often comes with goods that have been lovingly created by small producers, and you would be forgiven for thinking that this makes me the ideal person to write this review. But you are wrong. I like a glass of the good stuff as much as the next lady, but to call myself an expert on wine would most definitely be a fraud.
So what should I write about, if not the flawlessly balanced notes of wild strawberry in the mouth puckeringly dry Molvino Pinot Rosé Spumante (most definitely recommended) or the soft, lemony finish of the Salena Chardonnay?
Well I could start with a nod to the provenance of each wine on the Liquid Indulgence wine list. Business owner Alan Terry puts a lot of hard work into sourcing unusual wines from unusual places, making sure that the evening holds at least one bottle that will take you by surprise.
Then I should probably follow that up with a side order of the excellent food provided as part of the ticket price. This time it was delivered by the chef and team at Beechwood Close Hotel, our venue on this occasion. Not only was there a copious amount of delicious cheese, cured meat and bread on offer, dessert was also a tasty way of preparing our stomachs for the next round of wine tasting.
But I think perhaps, that the real recommendation has to come on the back of founder and host for the night, Mr Alan Terry. With years of experience in holding a room, Alan kept the attention of an increasingly ‘giddy’ audience with humour and aplomb. A winning combination of education and competition, mixed with his very obvious love for wine and spirits, is why I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for more.”
So there you have it!
Come along to one of our upcoming events and find out why you’ll also be left wanting to come back for more. Whether it’s a night out with a difference or perhaps you’re wanting to host your own wine evening then you’ve come to the right place.
